Kosmika is an all-female electric string quartet based out of Russia consisting of two violins, a viola, and a cello. Their musical compositions have been described as “classical meets space” and a “musical trip into the vast beyond that is our universe.” They have produced four albums — Empty Space, Nebulae, Oculus Rift, and Kosmik Fire — and are known for their eclectic scenic outfits and accompanying choreography, which causes their shows to transcend mere performance and become a musical journey into space.
To suit their bold, on-stage personas, I chose bold, colorful imagery from our own universe to feature very prominently on their albums. Each album cover gets more extravagant, signaling a more confident step in their musical development, ending with Kosmik Fire, a fiercely energetic album that could have been produced only by a group as self-assured and passionate as Kosmika.
